2) Repeat procedures 2-15 from sample
1

Using the weighing balance measure 35g of bentonite, 10g of barite and
add to 350ml of water measured using measuring cylinder

describes a fluid’s resistance to flow. It is responsible for the removal of
the drill cuttings and also helps in suspending cuttings when drilling
operation is halted. Viscosity becomes greater with an increase in resistance.
Marsh funnel and Rotary viscometer are the equipment used to test for
viscosity. If viscosity is not properly controlled it can lead to a cave in
which will lead to destruction of the well and expensive damages.

Rheology (Viscosity) is the measure
of resistance of a fluid to deformation by stress. It is one of the most
important properties of a drilling fluid. Plastic Viscosity (PV), Yield Point
(YP), Apparent Viscosity (AP), and gel strength are the various parameters that
are tested for under viscosity. Knowledge of the various parameters listed is
necessary for rheology control. This report shows the relationship between the
various viscosity parameters and how they affect drilling fluid with the use of
laboratory equipment and apparatus.
