warming is not a new problem but it is a problematic question from the past to
the present. It is
a big issue of the atmosphere on the earth which trigger continuous increase in
the surface temperature of the Earth .”Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in the Earth’s
average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the
greenhouse gas released by people burning fossil fuels”(
Riebeek, 2010). Nguyen Van Tue,
head of the Hydrometeorology and Climate Change Department under the Ministry
of Natural Resouces of Environment said that: ” Climate change causes global
warming, leading to change rainfall, melting ice and rising sea level
worldwide”(ngu?n, n?m) . In VietNam, global
warming has significantly impacted on not only agricultural production but also
the widespread death of forest tree, in water supplies and flooding of coastal
areas; however, sea level rise is a real menace to VietNam agriculture. Other
nations also worried about this problem,so they join hand to build up a groups
of scientists called the Intergovermental Panel on Climate change or IPCC. It
is established in 1988 by United Nations to evaluate causes and effects of
climate change. Until now, IPCC was announced four assessments related to
relationship between human activities and global warming.
based on secondary data will include three parts: causes, effects and solutions
of global warming.
Discussion of findings
What are the causes of global warming?
main causes of global warming is to have a large amount of cacbon dioxide(CO2)
in the atmosphere. They contributed to increase in temperature in the planet.
People consume such fossil fuels as coal, oil, and natural gas for energy or
deforestation to have a place for
plantations and pastures. Besides, there are a lot of gases in Earth’s
atmosphere known as ” greenhouse gases”(GHGs) like methane(CH4),
nitrious oxide,…. They are pollutants making the problem become more serious.
In many poison gas existing in atmosphere, CO2 is one of the
greatest gas risks occuring in over many centuries. This gas will threaten not
only climate of future but also progeny later(Climatehotmap,
ten ho tac gia, nam). Human influence is also rapidly changing the climate.Scientists also
authorities drew a conclusion on global warming that the temperature of the
planet is increasing in at nearly twice the rate it was 50 years ago. Causes of
this epidemic are not only natural cycles but also effect of GHGs released by
people. IPCC- a groups specialized in researching and writing results about
newest scientific findings about our planet, they declared that people living
in the earth emitting toxic gas to environment in differents ways. It is ignition
of fossil fuels from vehicles, factories, industrialization, electricity
product. Landfills and agricultures also are impacted by methane ( especially
from the digestive systems of grazing animals), nitrous oxide from fertilizers, gas
used for refrigeration and industial processes,….However, each GHGs has a
diverse effect on environment. To name a few, a particle of methane generate
more than 20 times that of CO2. Nitrous oxide is 300 times more influential
than CO2. Other gas have a high ability of heat-trapping, but none
of these gas affect much warmth more than CO2 does. (Phan1, ho tac gia, nam)Another causes contributed to
increased emissions of GHGs is overpopulation. Nowadays, rapidly growing
population has become a huge menace to natural environment as well as human-being.
These responses have been made up many places for rice growing and cattle farming.
This makes methane go up dramatically and destroy our environment.(Pakenham,.n.d) Human influence has been a very serious issue now because
human do not take care about the earth. People cause global warming are more
than natural causes global warming. The earth has been changing for many years
until now it is still changing due to modern lifestyle of everyone. Human
activities include indutrial production, burning fossil fuel, mining, castle
rearing or deforestation made our planet become worse and worse.
2.2 How does global warming influence
nature and people?
effects of climate change is an unavoidable fact. There will be extremely
serious consequences for natural ecosystems, agriculture and human settlements.
In Vietnam , it will be a huge disadvantage for people when sea level rises. In
the article ” Vietnam finds itself vulnerable if sea rises”, the author
indicates enormous dangers facing Vietnam if sea level increases as a
consequence of climate change. It is predicted that the Mekong Delta will be
under the strongest impact of rising sea level when a large area could be
submerged or flooded, hundreds of thousands of people would be displaced from
their homes and profound social and economic effects may be entailed. The
threat of rising sea levels is not restricted in Mekong Delta but also in the
Central Highlands and the Red River Delta. Although the Vietnamese government
has recognized the problem and implemented a sensible national program to
address it, its primary approach to build thousands of miles of dikes is also
problematic. These obstacles will probably interupt the self-cleansing process
of rivers and detain millions of environmental pollutants like industrial
rubbish, waste, pesticides and fertilizers which can result in higher losses. To
make the matter worse, many citizens in these rivers areas have no concerns
about this risk and do nothing to prepare themselves for a potentially
difficult future. (Mydans,2009).
