William Shakespeare was one of the greatest writers in history and in his play ¨Romeo And Juliet¨ he shows multiple different types of love throughout his play. Shakespeare’s thoughts about love shows the period in time which it was written which The play was written in 1595. He shows us in this play many kinds like tough love, forbidding love, friendly love and many other kinds from different people. The play exposes the parents of Juliet as being nasty and unkind and frankly just mean towards her. This is shown from their behaviors and actions towards Juliet. Capulet starts in the play by being pretending to be nice and protects Juliet by explaining to Paris that he cannot marry Juliet as she is too young as in act 1 scene 2 capulet says ¨But saying o’er what I have said before. My child is yet a stranger in the world. She hath not seen the change of fourteen years. Let two more summers wither in their pride Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride.¨ (1.2.7-11.)Juliet was 13 years old and it was common to marry that early. The father of juliet looks like he is nice and accepting of juliet but that changes as Capulet believes this wedding will make her and everyone there happy after the death of Tybalt, her cousin. But she has been upset about Romeo’s banishment from Verona. However when Juliet confronts Capulet that she would not like to get married to Paris the parents get filled with rage and gets very angry with Lady Capulet saying that ” I would the fool were married to her grave”(3.5.140). Juliet begs to them to not to marry because she does not want to marry Paris, and Capulet replies, “Hang thee young baggage, disobedient wretch! “(3.5.160). In which shows how mad and angry the parents are and are showing here tough love where there forcing her to do something. in the Montague´s household however they treat Romeo differently than the Capulets because in Act 1 Scene 1 when Romeo has disappeared Lady Montague is worried that something might have happened to him, “O where is Romeo, saw him you today? ” she also fears that poor Romeo could be in danger. This shows how the reader expects the parent and child relationship together and not how they are in the Capulet family. Romeos parents returns in Act 3 Scene 1 this is where they support and stand up for their son saying that he should not be executed because he killed a person that should have been murdered anyways. If the Capulet’s had handled it like this about Juliet it would have been different, it’s very possible that she would have wanted to marry Paris and not disobey her parents.
